Scope: every listing published on Tropiloc by validated, non-suspended professional agencies on the survey date (144 listings, 355 vehicles, 20 agencies). A listing counts once, whatever its number of identical vehicles.
Prices: computed with the site's own pricing engine — each listing's sliding scale, each agency's own seasons, every day charged at its season's rate — for a pick-up at 9 am on the first working day (Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays) from the 10th of each of the 12 months following the survey, return at 9 am. Rental price incl. VAT, excluding extras, delivery, out-of-hours supplement and early-booking discount: this is the catalogue price.
Closed lengths: an agency can refuse a rental length (for instance under 5 days) by setting €0 on that band of its price grid. The listing is then counted as not available for that length — never as free.
Refused slots: as in the catalogue, a listing is not counted when its agency is closed at 9 am on the pick-up or return day with no out-of-hours service or delivery that day: the site does not offer it for those dates. Reference pick-ups therefore avoid weekends and public holidays, so that every month is measured on a comparable sample.
Minimum age: an age declared below 18, the legal age to sign a rental contract, is treated as an input error and left out of the age statistics.
Statistics: median, first and third quartiles (p25 and p75: half of the listings lie between them), by linear interpolation. A group of fewer than 3 agencies is not published, so as never to reveal a single agency's rates.
Frozen edition: the monthly snapshot is taken at the first visit of the month and never recomputed. Each edition stays available at its own address, with its data.
